Marsh-Carrington correspondence, 1849-1881.

This is a collection of correspondence among the Marsh-Carrington family members and friends. Rev. Frederick Marsh was a Congregational minister in Winchester, Connecticut. His daughter, Catherine, married Rev. George Carrington. Their children were George Marsh (who would become active in Connecticut politics), Edward Frederick, and Louise Merrill. Catherine and the children moved in with her father following Rev. Carrington's death. Two themes throughout the letters are death and religion. Another correspondent is Jonathan Marsh, a son of Rev. Marsh and brother of Catherine. A graduate of the Hartford American Asylum (now the American School for the Deaf), Jonathan was a coffin maker.
